New Digital Card Game “Chrono Ma:Gia” from GungHo Entertainment

Spoiler: We had initially hoped that this game was part of the Chrono franchise (of Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross fame). While it turns out that this game has nothing to do with that franchise, it happens to look great in its own right.
This Spring, we are expecting a new mobile digital card game from the studio that brought us “Let it Die” and “Puzzles & Dragons”. The Chrono Ma:Gia project combines the talents of Daisuke Yamamoto and his creative team from “Puzzles & Dragons” as well as Yuzo Koshiro who is responsible for the music from titles like Etrian Odyssey.
The mobile game is already shaping up to be a visual delight with a crisp interface as well as fitting musical accompaniment that adds to the fantasy aesthetic. If this mobile title is anything like “Puzzles & Dragons”, we should have a fairly addicting title that combines various strategic elements with diverse mechanics and gameplay elements that ensures an overall unique, but familiar experience. I expect to see a combination of competitive card game mechanics fused with other rpg/action/puzzle elements that have seen from recent mobile games as well.
Currently Chrono Ma:Gia will be released at Spring 2018 in Japan. However, based on their english website, GungHo also has plans for a western release in the near future. We’ll be eagerly awaiting more info on this one in the days to come.
